Good Morning!

☕ I've heard some pretty aggressive investment pitches.

"Get in before it's too late!"

"This stock could change your life!"

But "Give us $100 billion. There's a chance our product could destroy civilization" is a new one. 😂

Meet Anthropic.

It's the company behind Claude, one of the biggest artificial intelligence competitors to ChatGPT.

And it just filed paperwork to go public.

According to reports, Anthropic could raise as much as $100 BILLION in its IPO, potentially valuing the company at $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion.

That's trillion. With a T.

For perspective, I once tried to borrow $5,000 from my bank.

They wanted tax returns, bank statements, and proof of employment.

Apparently, I should've told them I was building something that might take over the planet.

But here's where the story gets really interesting.

Anthropic's IPO paperwork warns that its AI technology could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity."

And its CEO, Dario Amodei, has argued that advanced AI development may need to slow down so safety measures can catch up.

Meanwhile, the company is preparing to raise an enormous amount of money to keep developing that same technology.

That's quite a business model.

"We're not entirely sure humanity survives the product launch, but have you considered our growth potential?"😂

And the financial statements are almost as startling.

In the first six months of 2026, Anthropic generated approximately $16.3 billion in revenue.

It also reported an $80.7 billion net loss.

Now, that doesn't mean Anthropic is a bad company or that AI isn't revolutionary.

It means investors need to ask an old-fashioned question:

When does all this incredible technology become a profitable business?

Because excitement isn't earnings.

Revenue isn't profit.

And a trillion-dollar valuation isn't proof that shareholders will make money.

Personally, I'm rooting for AI.

I just hope it doesn't eliminate humanity before I finish paying off my credit cards.

Although, if it could eliminate the credit card balances instead, I'd be willing to hear its proposal. 😂

P.S. I told my wife there's a company worth potentially trillions that warns its technology could threaten humanity.

She said, "And people still want to invest?"

I said, "Apparently."

She thought for a moment.

"Well, at least if the world ends, we won't have to pay off your credit cards."

Finally. A financial plan we can both agree on. 🤷

Your thoughts

YOUR RETIREMENT PLAN DEPENDS ON A FOOTBALL GAME.
APPARENTLY, YOUR FINANCIAL ADVISER NEEDED MORE WINGS. 🏈

There’s a real market superstition called the Super Bowl Indicator.

The popular version goes like this:

An NFC team wins? Stocks go up that year.
An AFC team wins? Stocks go down.

The original version adds exceptions based on which league teams belonged to before the NFL merger.

Because obviously, before investing your life savings, you should research football’s organizational structure in 1969.

Forget earnings.
Forget interest rates.
Somebody missed a field goal. SELL EVERYTHING.

The indicator became famous because its historical predictions appeared remarkably accurate.

But finding a pattern is different from finding a reason.

Search enough unrelated events and stock returns, and eventually something looks brilliant.

Until your retirement gets tackled.

That’s the lesson: a convincing track record can still be built on complete nonsense.

If someone pitches you a “proven system,” ask WHY it should work.

“Because the Packers won” is an answer best delivered several feet away from your money.
