Good Morning!

☕ I've developed a foolproof investment strategy.

When my stocks go up, I'm a financial genius.

When they go down, it's the Federal Reserve's fault.

I've been using this system for years. My wife calls it "avoiding accountability." I call it "portfolio management." 😂

Unfortunately, Warren Buffett is making my strategy increasingly difficult to defend.

In May, Buffett warned:

"It's tough to find values when everybody is preferring gambling."

Ouch.

He's talking about investors who seem more interested in predicting tomorrow's stock price than understanding today's business.

And he's got a point.

We've reached a strange moment in investing.

A company announces it's using artificial intelligence.

Its stock jumps 20%.

Nobody asks whether it's making money.

Nobody checks its debt.

Nobody examines its cash flow.

Apparently, the letters AI now stand for "Apparently Irrelevant" when it comes to financial statements.

Buffett approaches investing differently.

His philosophy can be summarized in one famous observation:

"Price is what you pay; value is what you get."

That's an important distinction.

A fantastic company can be a terrible investment if you overpay.

Imagine buying a $500,000 house for $900,000.

It's still a wonderful house.

You just made a terrible deal.

My wife once paid $400 for a handbag that holds approximately $12 worth of stuff.

I brought up Buffett's philosophy.

We haven't discussed investing together since.

But here's what I find most interesting about Buffett.

He's perfectly comfortable doing nothing.

He'll sit on cash and wait for an opportunity that makes sense.

Meanwhile, I get anxious if I haven't checked my brokerage account by 9:31 a.m.

The lesson?

You don't have to swing at every pitch.

And you certainly don't have to chase every stock that suddenly becomes popular.

Before buying, ask yourself:

Am I purchasing a business at a reasonable price? Or am I betting someone will pay more for it tomorrow?

Because Buffett understands something I've learned the expensive way.

The stock market is a wonderful place to build wealth.

It's a terrible place to pay tuition for gambling lessons.

And unlike Vegas, they don't even give you free drinks.

P.S. Warren Buffett says the stock market isn't a casino.

I agree. At least in Vegas, when I lose money, someone brings me a free drink.

My brokerage account just sends me another email asking if I'd like to invest more.  🤷

Below is an important message from one of our highly valued sponsors.

"100 Economists Agree: Your Money Is About to Get More Expensive." A new Reuters survey found that all 100 economists surveyed expect a December rate hike, while 94 expect no increase at the October meeting. That's a dramatic shift from last month's expectations.

"AI Was Supposed to Make Investors Rich. This IPO Lost 30% Instead." South Korean AI company Elice Group fell nearly 30% below its IPO price, helping trigger a broader technology selloff in South Korea. The decline highlights investors' increasing skepticism toward expensive AI growth stories.

The “Do the Opposite of Jim Cramer” Fund

The managers monitored Cramer’s television appearances and social media, betting against stocks he favored and buying stocks he criticized. It turned the internet joke—“just do the opposite of Cramer”—into an actual investment product.
