📈 US-EU agreement announced. China truce extension expected, Stocks Jump
President Trump and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen just dropped big trade news from Scotland: a new US-EU framework deal is in place, with a baseline 15% tariff on EU imports into the US. Trump called it “the biggest of them all”.

Meanwhile, Beijing and Washington are expected to extend their tariff truce, according to the South China Morning Post.

As for Japan, Tokyo's $550B deal with the US isn't quite what it seems. Chief negotiator Ryosei Akazawa clarified that only 1% to 2% will be real investment, with the rest coming as loans. And behind the headlines? Japan expects to save nearly ¥10 trillion ($68B) in tariff reductions. Akazawa’s comments suggest Japan may be giving up far less than it appears.

The Fed isn’t expected to cut rates this week, but all eyes are on September. Markets see a 62% chance of a cut then, especially with more jobs data coming before that decision. Trump’s turning up the heat on Fed Chair Jerome Powell, blaming him for keeping rates too high, while the Fed is still watching how tariffs shake out. For now, Powell is expected to preach patience again, as inflation remains sticky and the economy isn’t flashing clear warning signs yet.
