Good Morning!
☕ My parents had a simple rule when I brought home my report card.
Get an A, and they'd be proud.
Get a B, and we'd have a little talk.
Apparently, Wall Street has a different grading system.
Intel just got an A on its earnings report, and investors grounded it for the rest of the year. 😂
And by "grounded," I mean they wiped out nearly $140 BILLION of the company's market value in a single day.
💸 INTEL HAD GOOD NEWS. WALL STREET DIDN'T CARE.
On Friday, October 30, Intel's stock plunged nearly 29%.
It was one of the worst days in the chipmaker's history.
Here's the crazy part.
Intel actually BEAT Wall Street's quarterly earnings expectations.
Revenue climbed 21% from a year earlier to $16.5 billion.
Its data center and AI business grew nearly 80%.
Those sound like pretty impressive numbers.
So why did investors run for the exits?
Because Intel also told them what was coming NEXT.
And they didn't like it.
The company forecast weaker-than-expected sales for the fourth quarter.
Its traditional PC business is struggling.
Memory chips are getting more expensive.
Manufacturing expansion is consuming enormous amounts of cash.
And Intel warned it doesn't expect to generate positive cash flow this year.
THERE'S THAT WORD AGAIN. CASH FLOW.
Investors weren't just looking at how much money Intel made yesterday.
They were asking how much money Intel could make tomorrow.
And whether all that expensive AI infrastructure would eventually pay for itself.
That's the uncomfortable truth about investing.
A company can beat expectations, grow its business, and STILL be a terrible investment at the wrong price.
Especially when investors have already priced in a spectacular future.
Intel's stock had nearly quadrupled earlier this year.
Investors were betting on a remarkable turnaround.
Then management delivered a disappointing forecast.
And suddenly, $140 billion in market value disappeared.
Not from the company's bank account, of course.
From what investors were willing to pay for its shares.
That's an important distinction.
Stock prices reflect expectations, not just results.
When expectations get too high, even good news can become bad news.
And when companies spend enormous amounts building the future, investors eventually want proof they'll earn that money back.
💡 THE LESSON
I think AI is going to change the world.
But that doesn't mean every AI-related stock will make investors rich.
The internet changed the world, too.
Plenty of dot-com investors still lost their shirts.
The lesson isn't to avoid new technology.
It's to understand what you're buying, how much you're paying, and whether the business can eventually turn its growth into real cash flow.
Because there's a big difference between a great company and a great investment.
And apparently, there's also a big difference between getting an A and making Wall Street happy.
☕ ONE LAST THOUGHT
I told my wife about Intel losing $140 billion after beating earnings expectations.
She said, "See? Even when you do something right, you can still lose money."
I said, "Exactly! That's what I've been trying to explain about my golf clubs."
She said, "Trevor, you spent $1,200 to shoot the same score."
Apparently, my return on investment is also below Wall Street's expectations. ⛳😂

LOSE MONEY? JUST DOUBLE YOUR BET! 🤡💸
Somebody actually invented an investment strategy where the more money you lose, the MORE money you risk.
It's called the Martingale Strategy.
And yes, real traders use versions of it.
Here's how this financial masterpiece works:
You risk $100.
You lose.
So you risk $200.
Lose again? Risk $400.
Then $800.
Then $1,600.
Then $3,200.
After six consecutive losses, you've lost $6,300.
And your next trade?
YOU NEED TO RISK $6,400 JUST TO TRY TO MAKE BACK YOUR LOSSES AND EARN $100! 🤯
The theory is that eventually you'll win, recover everything, and walk away with a profit.
There's just one tiny problem.
YOUR BANK ACCOUNT DOESN'T HAVE INFINITE MONEY.
It's like trying to put out a house fire by buying a bigger house every time the flames spread. 🔥
The strategy originated in gambling and assumes you can keep doubling your bets until you win.
But markets don't owe you a winning trade.
And your broker doesn't accept optimism as collateral.
The financial lesson?
A strategy that produces lots of tiny wins but occasionally destroys your account isn't a wealth-building strategy.
It's bankruptcy with a calculator.
After losing six trades in a row, what's your next move?
