Market News

šŸ“ˆ Stocks hit new highs amid Earnings
Markets were a mixed bag Thursday as investors sifted through earnings from tech heavyweights and eyed looming tariff decisions. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq inched to fresh records, but the Dow slipped 0.7%, weighed down by caution over trade uncertainty. Tesla tanked 8% after disappointing earnings, while Alphabet climbed on stronger-than-expected results. Nvidia, Broadcom, and Amazon led tech gains, even as Apple dipped and the August 1 tariff deadline loomed large over Wall Street.

āš”ļø Trump & Powell meet in Public
Trump, in a hard hat, toured the Fed’s $2.5B renovation with Jerome Powell, and things got awkward fast.

He claimed the project cost had soared to $3.1B, but Powell fact-checked him on the spot, noting Trump included a third building already finished. "You just added in a third building," Powell said.

Still, Trump kept pushing for lower interest rates and downplayed talk of firing Powell: "I just don’t think it’s necessary."

His aides stood by the $3.1B figure, accusing Powell of ā€œsplitting hairs.ā€

šŸŖ– Thailand-Cambodia border clashes - who has more to lose?
Tensions flared between Thailand and Cambodia Thursday as deadly border clashes erupted, raising alarms for both economies, but analysts warn Cambodia stands to lose more.

With 11 civilians dead, and military assets like Thailand’s F-16s and Cambodia’s BM-21s now in play, the conflict threatens key tourism revenue. While Thailand’s hotspots like Bangkok and Phuket remain far from the action, Cambodia’s thinner safety nets and heavier reliance on cross-border tourism leave it more exposed. Analysts see limited impact on Thailand, but escalation risks remain as nationalism surges and diplomacy falters.

🤯 Intel beats on Q2 revenue, plans to cut 15% of workforce, cancels factory plans
Intel beat revenue expectations but missed on earnings in Q2, thanks to impairment charges, and it's slashing 15% of its workforce. The chipmaker forecast Q3 revenue of up to $13.6B, above Wall Street’s $12.6B target, but investors weren't impressed, shares slipped nearly 5% in premarket trading. Intel’s stock is down 28% over the past year, and with Nvidia now towering over rivals at a $4T market cap, the pressure's mounting.

3ļøāƒ£ 3 Stocks Too Cheap to Ignore at These Prices
Just because a stock’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s a steal, but sometimes, the value is too good to pass up. Valuation alone won’t predict performance, plenty of pricey stocks keep climbing, while ā€œcheapā€ ones stay stuck for a reason. Still, when the fundamentals align, low valuation can boost the bull case. Here are three overlooked names that might be worth a second look right now.

🩸 The GLP-1 Trade
GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy reshaped entire industries.

Citrini Research’s latest deep dive explores the ā€œsecond servingā€ of GLP-1 impact, looking beyond healthcare into sectors like food, fitness, and finance. From shrinking snack sales to shifting insurance models, the ripple effects are just beginning. And here’s the trades you can make.

šŸ‘ļø The Best Time to Invest
In his latest post, Ben Carlson argues that the best time to invest is when you have the money, not when headlines are quiet or stocks feel cheap. Market timing rarely works, but consistency and long-term thinking do.
