How to Invest in Quality Stocks Right Now

Investors are getting edgy as persistent inflation keeps dancing through the economy without any promise of interest rate relief. And as geopolitical flashpoints keep piling up, the allure of quality stocks is stronger than ever.

Here's the scoop: Betting on quality stocks with solid fundamentals and the ability to survive turbulent business cycles is always a smart move. But what exactly makes a stock "quality"? And how about those of us who aren't expert stock pickers?

No worries, friends, there's an ETF for that. For those who lack the time or expertise to sift through stocks, ETFs focusing on “quality stocks” offer a one-stop solution. Just make sure to check each fund's size, liquidity, and fees before diving in. Let's break down three such ETFs worth considering:

1. iShares MSCI USA Quality Factor ETF (QUAL)

Launched in 2013, the iShares MSCI USA Quality Factor ETF (QUAL) is backed by BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. This ETF tracks an index of U.S. large- and mid-cap stocks with strong quality metrics like profitability, financial health, and growth potential. With assets under management (AUM) at $41.7 billion, it's no lightweight .

QUAL is up 8.2% year-to-date (YTD) and sees an average daily trading volume of 1.3 million shares. Plus, it offers a dividend yield of 1.16%. Top holdings include heavyweights like Nvidia (NVDA), Visa (V), and Microsoft (MSFT).

2. Invesco S&P 500 Quality ETF (SPHQ)

Next up, the Invesco S&P 500 Quality ETF (SPHQ) is managed by asset management giant Invesco. This ETF tracks the S&P 500 Quality Index, focusing on companies with strong financial characteristics like profitability, low debt, and sustainable growth potential. SPHQ currently has $8.68 billion in AUM.

With a YTD gain of 9% and a dividend yield of 1.33%, SPHQ is another solid contender. It trades over 1 million shares on average daily, and its top holdings include tech titans like Nvidia, Broadcom (AVGO), and Alphabet (GOOG).

3. JPMorgan U.S. Quality Factor ETF (JQUA)

Rounding out the list is the JPMorgan U.S. Quality Factor ETF (JQUA), managed by investment banking powerhouse JPMorgan. This ETF tracks the JPMorgan US Quality Factor Index, focusing on U.S. large- and mid-cap stocks with strong quality metrics like profitability, low debt, and sustainable growth potential. JQUA has an AUM of $4.02 billion .

JQUA is up 6% YTD and offers a dividend yield of 1.19%. With an average daily trading volume just below 500,000 shares, its top holdings include Meta, Nvidia, and Alphabet (GOOGL).

Investing in quality stocks has always been a smart play, and these ETFs offer a straightforward path to get you there. Just remember, as always, to do your due diligence before jumping in.
