📊 Today’s CPI Report
The upcoming CPI report is likely to reveal stalled progress in reducing inflation, though not enough to deter the Federal Reserve from cutting interest rates next week. Futures markets show traders overwhelmingly betting, with 88% confidence, on a quarter-point rate cut on the 18th December.

🔋 Tesla Stock Hits Three-Year High
Tesla stock soared to a three-year high Tuesday after Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas boosted the price target to $400, calling it his "Top Pick." The stock is up 65% this year, with all gains post-Election Day. Analysts suggest Tesla might thrive if Trump scraps EV tax credits, thanks to its proven profitability in electric vehicles.

🇺🇸 Dollar Gains on Report China May Allow Weaker Yuan
The dollar gained strength after reports that Chinese leaders might let their currency weaken to counter potential tariffs under a second Trump presidency. Economist Karsten Junius noted that a similar move during the previous trade war helped China. A cheaper yuan could cushion the impact of sluggish exports and deflation.

Big Leap In Quantum Computing

Google's stock surged over 5% Tuesday following the unveiling of Willow, a new quantum computing chip touted as a major breakthrough in the field. The company claims Willow can solve equations in just five minutes that would take classical supercomputers 10 septillion years, longer than the history of the universe.

Quantum computing, which uses qubits instead of traditional bits, promises exponentially greater processing power by leveraging quantum mechanics. Google says Willow has eliminated a key bottleneck, marking a significant step forward. The chip has “promising applications” across diverse fields, from drug discovery to renewable energy and cybersecurity.

However, doubts remain about the chip's practical utility. Willow’s achievements rely on RCS benchmarking tests, which lack real-world applications. Google Quantum AI’s Julian Kelly describes this milestone as “necessary but not sufficient” for true practicality.

Google first achieved quantum supremacy with its Sycamore chip in 2019, but advancements in supercomputers have since closed that gap. Rivals like IBM, Intel, Amazon, and Microsoft are also advancing quantum research, intensifying competition in this cutting-edge field.

Despite the hurdles, experts like Andrew Cleland from the University of Chicago view Willow as a crucial step toward building functional quantum computers.
